If you look at some of the most iconic franchises within the horror genre, they all have had sequels on top of sequels on top of sequels. Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Saw have all reached double digits, with A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream not following too far behind.
It is perhaps fitting then, that the movie originally created as a spoof of some of these titles is also getting the same sequel treatment. As of 2013, the Scary Movie franchise was five films deep, a number that will be added to with the announcement of Scary Movie 6.
The film is set to release in 2025, with no details as to returning or new cast, directors or plot as of yet. The only thing you can really be certain of is the same kind of goofy parody styling that made the first film so popular back in 2000.
Since Scary Movie 5 in 2013, there has been a wealth of horror films released, leaving the latest addition to the franchise with no shortage of potential homages, spoofs, and plain old rip-offs to play with.
