10 Movie Sequels That Brought Characters Back In The Worst Way Possible

7. Legolas - The Hobbit Series

Though there were many, many things wrong with Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy (a lot of which were actually down to the studio rather than the director), the biggest issues were directly reflected in Legolas.

One of the most beloved characters from The Lord of the Rings, Legolas was crow-barred into a story which didn’t originally include him, not only taking the focus away from the characters the narrative was actually about, but raising more than a couple questions about the consistency of the overall storyline in the process.

Simply put, there were few characters in these movies as obvious a studio mandate as Legolas. Instead of relying on the great original cast they’d acquired, as the trilogy wore on the focus became more and more centred around heroes from The Lord of the Rings, but none felt anywhere as needless as Legolas and his CGI antics.
