10 Movie Sequels That Brought Characters Back In The Worst Way Possible

4. Agent K - Men In Black 2

Although it had its charm, Men in Black 2 was an undeniable letdown in comparison to the original. At its best it was a needless sequel, but at its worst it actively undermined the narrative of the first flick, especially when it came to Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K.

His relationship with Will Smith’s Agent J was the heart and soul of that initial film, a dynamic which the sequel needed. The problem was that K’s story had been perfectly wrapped up, with him leaving the agency and having his memory wiped so he could return to a small-town life with his wife.

Of course the sequel undid this poignant resolution by bringing the character back into the fold as a dunce, showing that the idyllic life he left for didn’t work out, and he’s actually worse off than he’s ever been.
