10 Movie Sequels We Secretly Want To See

6. Mathilda

Gaumont Buena Vista International

Strictly speaking, there was already a sequel to Leon, but thanks to a fall-out between director Luc Besson and studio Gaumont (when he set up his own studio), the script that had been set aside for Mathilda was repurposed as Colombiana when Gaumont wouldn't release the rights to The Professional.

But Colombiana is not Mathilda and the idea of Natatlie Portman still returning to play the grown-up version of her Leon character, who now works as a cleaner and is seeking revenge for the murder of her family (and Leon) is still massively compelling. Sure, it'd be the same story, but Portman in that sort of role is a very alluring idea and it's arguably an even more compelling sequel pitch to the Kill Bill 3 one that keeps being brought up.

It's unlikely, sadly, but if the pieces shifted into place, Besson would be mad not to develop a new script for Portman.
