10 Movie Sequels We're DYING To See In 2023

7. The Marvels

Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning
Disney

Release Date - July 28th

Captain Marvel was the first MCU project to have an Oscar-winner as the lead, a female lead, and a female director. On top of that, it was the first movie directed by a woman to earn a billion dollars.

And yet, the final result was... meh. Because of the surprisingly unambitious plot, and underwhelming CGI, you wouldn't think people wouldn't be clamouring for a follow-up.

But there are two drastic changes the sequel has made which has got us intrigued. It has been confirmed that Captain Marvel 2, now known as The Marvels, will follow Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). Because each of these characters have held the Marvel title in the comics at some point, it'll be interesting to see the trio teaming up.

And since the post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home showed Nick Fury on a mission in deep space, all signs are pointing to the SHIELD director and the Marvels uniting against an intergalactic threat.

Because each of the women deal with a lot of conflicts in space, this sequel should delve into the cosmogonal aspects of the comics. Although we've seen The Kree, the Skrulls, and The Supreme Intelligence, The Marvels should really embrace the cosmic lore by introducing characters who are literally out-of-this-world like Genis-Vell, the Silver Surfer, the Brood, or The Sh'iar.
