Few people have had as rough a time than good old Darth. He born from immaculate conception, has a high midichlorian count (whatever that means) and can even build really annoying English droids. He should have been looked after by someone better than Renton from Trainspotting. No wonder it all went so wrong. Darth, or Anakin, has so many talents. He a brilliant podracer at the age of nine. Sporty? Check. He can build robots. Engineer? Check. And he can woo women ten years older than him in Queen Amidala. Romantic? Check. Hes the full package. What happens when his family home is destroyed by Tusken vandals? Well, he just teaches them the error of their ways. So, he thinks about community too. The only reason he joins the Dark Side is to save his wife and children. So, its a business decision and, to top it all, he gets a cool new uniform. Fashion conscious? Check. The fact that his old boss, Obi-Wan, takes offence at this says more about him than it does Anakin/Darth. From there, Darth shows himself to be a brilliant leader of men and military tactician. Was it his fault the Death Star had a ridiculous weak point? No. That was Grand Moff Tarkin. The successful release of Han Solo from Tatooine? Jabbas fault. Even when he tells Luke hes his father, a heart-warming moment for any parent, Luke jumps off a tower. All said and done though, he does save Luke from The Emperors electricity bolts. Father of the year? Without a doubt.
