10 Movies Everyone Wanted (But Nobody Went To See)
1. Justice League
Let's get one thing out of the way early - people did see 2017's Justice League .
It grossed over $650 million worldwide, which is nothing to scoff at. However, in this case, it's all about expectations.
As mentioned earlier, Marvel changed everything with the beginnings of the MCU in 2008. Since then, the studio has consistently built on its lore with dozens of interlocking films, raking in astronomical amounts of money in the process.
DC attempted to do the same, but didn't give their characters enough time and space to organically come together.
The Justice League branding and the individual heroes involved still held a lot of name value, so people were still excited at the thought of a big budget movie bearing the name. Unfortunately, thanks to the mess DC made of its Extended Universe, the numbers were disastrous.
When you compare it to Marvel's first big team-up film from five years prior - the $1.5 billion grossing The Avengers - Justice League just doesn't cut the mustard. Warner Bros.' DC output has never really recovered from the disappointment, but that doesn't mean they aren't still trying to shove awful superhero films down our throats!
God loves a trier, after all.
