5. Kubo And The Two Strings
Release Date: August 19, 2016 Laika are pretty much the Pixar of stop-motion animated films. Near enough everything that the studio have put their minds to over the past few years has been completely wonderful in almost every way - Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls were fantastic, beautiful works of art, and yet the studio's next feature - Kubo and the Two Strings - looks like it has the potential to be their best flick yet. We're talking 100% on Rotten Tomatoes good, folks. Set in ancient Japan, the story involves a young boy named Kubo who spends his days caring for his mother. Out of the blue, a spirit t turns his life upside down by - according to the plot synopsis "re-igniting an age-old vendetta." This results in a bunch of monsters coming after Kubo, who must locate a magical suit of armor worn by his late father. If that isn't the most exciting plot you've ever heard for an animated film, what is? Kubo and the Two Strings will feature the voice talents of Matthew McConaughey (how exciting), Rooney Mara, Charlize Theron and Ralph Fiennes. It's gonna be fantastic.
