10 Movies That Gave Rise To Bizarrely Specific Fears

5. Getting Sucked Into A Board Game - Jumanji

Hey, remember that time we watched a little boy play an ill-fated game of Jumanji, only to get sucked into a jungle where he had to live without his family until adulthood while being stalked by a murderous Boer War era hunter? Yeah, we do too. Sure, there are some scary scenes in Jumanji, what with the poisonous plants and the monkeys with knives and the random stampeding. But the most frightening aspect of the film is to watch how Alan reacts to these situations: it's not the first time that he's dealt with any of this stuff. It's then that you remember that this guy spent almost his entire life alone in the jungle. And it's one thing to think of Robin Williams stuck there...it's another when you think of the 11-year-old boy he used to be, having to face the monsoons and the wild animals all by himself. That's terrifying. We all wanted to play this game at least once as kids (some of us even had the board game, and were disappointed that it didn't actually have the power to make lions appear out of thin air or turn our cheating little brother into a monkey), but we were dead scared at the idea of being sucked into Jumanji itself.
