I had anti-bodies to this movie from the outset because there's SO much pink and girliness on the front cover of the DVD alone that I thought I was going to start vomiting glitter and rainbows if I so much as touched the casing. I succumbed to peer-pressure at a sleepover though, and it's with reluctance that I admit I actually enjoyed it. Having been annoyed that Rachel McAdams was cast as Allie in The Notebook and having never been a massive fan of Lindsay Lohan, the casting had acted as a deterrent for me. Regardless of this, it can be said that if there's one thing Lindsay Lohan has done well in her career, it's this movie. You wince as she starts transforming into one of the "plastics" and wait for reality to come and slap her in the face by the movies conclusion. The reason it's so hard to dislike this film is because it captures everything that is unfair or true for everyone, when it comes to being a teenager. Whether that's changing for a member of the opposite sex, peer pressure or bitchiness, this movie pretty much has it covered. There's characters from every clique (in a scene which mimics on of my favourite films of all time '10 Things I Hate About You' these are ruthlessly pointed out and stereotyped) and therefore everyone watching has got someone with whom they can empathise. It's cruel in places, outright ridiculous in others (Regina George's mother's hyperbolic character says it all) but because it's so relatable, it's very hard to dislike... which is why it has made the list.
Hi I'm Beth, a 17 year old girl from the UK who is most often found sat in front of my computer in my room making no noise and pretending I don't exist*. I like coffee (black, two sugars), old books and I'm currently studying the art of procrastination.
On a more serious note, I'm currently studying for my A Levels, taking English Literature, English Language, History and Economics. I intend to study either English or Journalism at university.
*that's a Harry Potter reference. If you didn't get that, then shame on you.
