10 Movies Ruined By Their Title

7. Quantum of Solace

Many eyebrows were raised when the follow-up to Daniel Craig's James Bond debut, Casino Royale, was announced to be Quantum of Solace.

The Bond franchise has had its fair share of daft titles over the years - Octopussy, above all else - but Quantum of Solace was probably the toughest for general audiences to immediately make sense of.

It's basically a word salad way of saying "a small measure of comfort," and while that relates to the movie's central themes just fine - as 007 (Craig) indeed seeks solace following the events of Casino Royale, against the shady organisation Quantum no less - it's ultimately more dryly academic than sexy, mysterious, or even basically appealing.

While Quantum of Solace was still broadly successful at the box office, the title might well be responsible for it grossing less than Casino Royale - though the middling quality of the movie overall probably didn't help either.
