10 Movies That Could Still Save The Box Office In 2020
2. Wonder Woman 1984
The DCEU looks to have recovered from the inconsistency of the early years to finally establish itself as a viable alternative to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and despite having existed for seven years, October's Wonder Woman 1984 marks the first time one of the franchise's superheroes has headlined their own sequel.
Diana Prince's origin story was the first DCEU movie to receive almost-universal critical acclaim, and still remains the best-reviewed entry in the series, and with all of the world-building out of the way Patty Jenkins' sequel looks to be an altogether bigger, badder and more colorful beast.
The 1980s setting is also a smart move to tap into the nostalgia market, and while it might not be able to trouble Aquaman as the highest-grossing DC adaptation in history, Wonder Woman 1984 nonetheless has a real shot at reaching the fabled billion dollar mark at the box office.
