1. Confess, Fletch Sequel

The Jon Hamm-starring Fletch reboot was quietly dumped in a few-hundred cinemas in 2022 before being sent to streaming, despite scoring rave reviews from critics.

Shortly after the crime comedy's release, writer-director Greg Mottola revealed he had been hired to write a sequel based on the 1978 novel Fletch's Fortune, but per the first film's box office performance wasn't sure if it would actually go before cameras.

Sadly back in August Mottola offered a depressing update, confirming that the Fletch sequel was officially dead.

As for why? Mottola cited a changing of the guard at Miramax, with the new head of the company scrapping development of a new film, despite the script apparently being finished.

Mottola added that the new overlords at Miramax found his humour style "too dry and unsentimental," and that while the first film lost money, there was also little attempt by the studio to make it profitable, seemingly nodding to the fact that they dumped it in few cinemas with a near non-existent marketing push.

If you haven't seen Confess, Fletch yet, seriously just drop whatever you're doing and watch it right now.
