10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled
2. Wolfs 2
Jon Watts' recent action-comedy Wolfs was confirmed to have a sequel in the works a month before it was even released, with Watts and stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt all expected to return.
However, despite Wolfs quickly becoming Apple TV+'s most-watched movie, the sequel plans were swiftly scuppered mere weeks after the film's streaming bow, with Watts confirming he decided not to move forward with Wolfs 2 due to Apple pivoting the first movie from a theatrical to streaming release.
Wolfs was originally set for a more conventional theatrical bow, with Clooney and Pitt reportedly even surrendering portions of their salary to ensure it happened, only for Apple to limit the cinema release to a mere week-long engagement before sending it to streaming.
Watts himself revealed that Apple made the decision without consulting him, prompting him to quietly return the money he'd been given to start writing Wolfs 2. The filmmaker added that he effectively caused Wolfs 2's cancellation because he "no longer trusted them as a creative partner".
