Cameron Diaz being retired seems to slip people's minds these days, probably because of how big star she was throughout her career and how young she was when she left the spotlight.

With her roles in The Mask (1994), There's Something About Mary (1998), Gangs of New York (2002) and Bad Teacher (2011), Diaz carved an impressive and consistent career thanks to her balance of comedic and dramatic work.

In 2014, she starred in two successful comedies - The Other Woman and Sex Tape - and the musical comedy-drama Annie, which ended up being her final movie performance.

She officially announced her retirement in 2018, stating: "I starting experiencing fame when I was 22, so 25 years ago. I've given half my life to the public. I think it's okay for me to take some time for myself."

Stepping out of the spotlight for the first time, Diaz has since settled down with her family and has launched her own brand of wine, whilst often part-taking in various charitable causes around the world.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
