10 Movies That Ruin The Credibility Of The IMDb Top 250

5. The Intouchables (2011)

This is an outright anomaly. Surely even the most positive human being on the planet can see The Intouchables for what it really is. That's to say, this box office triumph of a film, which tells the story of a handicapped white man and his black carer, journeys about as far into the realms of "calculated awards bait" as it's possible to venture.

No matter how you rationalise The Intouchables' placement on the list, it makes no sense for a film of such questionable merit to rank above established French classics such as Grand Illusion and The Rules of the Game.

In fact, The Intouchables is the highest ranked French movie on the entire list. Think about that for a second: ponder whether the algorithm that resulted in this film making the cut was justified in all its coded glory when it ranked such mediocre fare above Godard's Breathless, arguably the most influential film of the '60s.

Worst still, The Intouchables seems to consistently bounce around in the top 50 slots of the list, seemingly cementing it as an all-time classic, one not to be missed. In fact, it's the kind of film you wouldn't mind falling asleep to whilst watching it on an airplane.

You know The Searchers isn't in the Top 250, right?
