10 Movies That Show The Dark And Evil Side Of Social Media

7. Uwantme2killhim? (2014)

Loosely based on a true story, Uwantme2killhim plunges deep into the world of teenager Mark, who spends his time lounging in the dull green glow of his computer screen as he frequents chatrooms long into the night. His infatuation with the cyberworld stems from his love for one particular girl named Rachel (Ray Winstone's daughter Jaime), who he regularly talks to online. Rachel appears to live in a troubled world, and despite never having seen her in the flesh, Mark makes it his duty to try and save her. Ultimately he ends up tumbling into a world far different from the one his imagination had conjured up out of chatroom conversation. What's Dark About It? The way in which protagonist Mark's sanity slowly unravels with every punch of his keyboard makes for a haunting portrait of chatroom obsession, and also chillingly demonstrate the way in which teenagers can come to treat chatroom dialogue as gospel. Is It Any Good? Uwantme2killhim is a case in point to never judge a book by its cover. Despite its ugly-looking title and potential to slink off into dull teenage drama, Andrew Douglas' movie remains taut and intriguing throughout its running time. It's a movie that snickers at the viewer and leads them down several blind alleys, before arriving at an explosive conclusion - showcasing the talents of two fine young British actors (Jamie Blackley and Tony Regbo) in the process.

Gaz Lloyd hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
