10 Movies That Were Almost Completely Unrecognisable

7. Robin Hood Used To Be CSI: Nottingham

Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe reteamed for the tepid Robin Hood, a gritty new take on the legend. This version began development as a script called Nottingham, where the Sheriff of Nottingham was investigating murders apparently committed by Robin Hood. It turns out Robin has been framed, and the film would climax with an epic battle scene. In addition to making the Sheriff the protagonist he would also have been involved in a love triangle with Lady Marion and Robin, and he investigated the crimes using historically accurate Twelfth Century crime scene techniques. Despite signing on for Nottingham Scott didn€™t actually like the script that much. He instead developed a new story where the Sheriff and Robin Hood are the same person, with Robin seeing the real Sheriff die early on and taking on his identity. Shortly before filming Scott fell out of love with that concept and eventually settled on doing a traditional take on the character. The film did decent box office but planned sequels were scrapped.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
