10 Movies That Were Fixed After Release
2. Alien: Romulus

Though Alien: Romulus was generally praised by critics and fans, many expressed disappointment with the film's decision to use the late Ian Holm's likeness for Rook - an android science officer of similar design and appearance to Holm's Ash from the original Alien.
Even ignoring the ethical debates about reusing an actor's likeness after they've passed, many simply felt that the visual effects were of a poor standard, resulting in a feat of "effects wizardry" that was more distracting than dazzling.
However, in light of the backlash, director Fede Álvarez confessed that the production simply ran out of time to complete the effect to the intended standard.
But likely as a result of the film's box office success, the filmmaker managed to convince 20th Century Studios to spend more time and money fixing the wonky effects for the home video release.
Comparisons between the two versions of the film certainly show the home release's more detailed renders and smarter use of low-key lighting to conceal the less-convincing aspects of the effect, even if it's still unlikely to fully persuade anyone who was already iffy about it in the first place.
