"The Merc With A Mouth" was not considered an easy transition to the screen between his off-colour humour, frequent vulgarity and fourth-wall breaks, but somehow the film adaptation managed to make it not only work well but exceed all expectations.

Genuinely hilarious and spending every moment on-screen with tongue very firmly in cheek, the film never took itself seriously and was excellent because of it. A sequel was released in 2018 and managed to do well with both audiences and critics again, but this time there was a real-life incident that brought a more sombre mood to the set.

Sequana Joi Harris was a stunt woman standing in for the character of Domino when she lost control of her motorbike, while not wearing a helmet and crashed into a building, killing her outright. As well as being a stuntwoman, she was a professional motorbike racer and notable for being the first female African-American on the circuit.
