10 Movies You Won't Believe Are Turning 20 In 2025

This list will make you feel old.

These days, it really does feel as though time is moving much faster than ever before. We're already a quarter of the way through this century, we're as close to the year 2050 as we are to 2000, and two whole decades have passed since 2005. 20 years!

The world was a much different place in just about every regard 20 years ago, but let's look at just the movie industry alone. Though there were comic book movies, Hollywood was yet to be taken over by superheroes, Star Wars had just finished its second trilogy with no more entries on the horizon for another decade, and we were slowly getting closer to one of the most controversial Best Picture reveals of all time.

And the films that released? It might seem like just yesterday, but by now those that came out in 2005 would be old enough to drive, old enough to drink, and old enough to make any reasonable person feel incredibly old.

If you can believe it, it had been two decades since a certain claymation man and his dog rocked up before last year, two decades since Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side, and two decades since beauty killed the beast.

10. Coach Carter

There has been something of a small influx of basketball movies in recent years, with Adam Sandler's Hustle showing a grizzled old scout trying to get a young kid in the game, and Air depicting the race for Nike to sign Michael Jordan. However, it will take a lot to top Coach Carter.

Samuel L. Jackson's titular high school coach took the job at Richmond High School, which wasn't exactly the kind of job you'd envy. But, in the face of undeniable odds, a school occupied by failing students in an incredibly violent neighbourhood, he turned them into a winning team in what is a wonderfully feel good story.

However, the basketball is the least important thing about this basketball movie. It was how Coach Carter was turning these boys into men academically and off the court that was the true story.

You can watch it back now and though there are some things that would absolutely give it away as being 20 years old, Samuel L. Jackson isn't one of them, as he looks exactly the same as he does today. The same can't be said about Channing Tatum, who looks incredibly young making his big screen debut at 25 years old.
