10 Movies You Won't Believe Turn 10 Years Old In 2016
4. Rocky Balboa
What a different a tenth of a century can make. Sylvester Stallone is being tipped for Oscars success next year for his reprisal of Rocky in the upcoming Creed movie, but back in December 2006 it seems like Rocky Balboa was all set to be the concluding chapter of the saga. Sixteen years after Rocky V despite the main character having been advised never to fight again due to brain damage - Rocky Balboa saw a sixty-year-old Sly Stallone returning to the ring for one final fight, this time against Mason Dixon (played surprisingly well by real life boxer Antonio Tarver). The film may not be the best in the franchise, but Stallone is strong, and the movie earned a hefty box office success and no shortage of positive reviews. Some feel that it veers towards self-parody at points (all the stuff about his wifes death falls a little flat, for me), but Rocky Balboa was certainly a better final chapter than the disappointing Rocky V would have been. But still, ten years on, theres life left in the series. Reviews from across the Atlantic are suggesting that Creed could become one of the best films in the franchise. It doesnt reach the UK until January 2016, so well have to wait and find out.
