10 Movies You Won't Believe Turn 10 Years Old In 2016

3. The Prestige

Reaching UK screens in November 2006, The Prestige served as further proof €“ after Memento and Batman Begins - that Christopher Nolan is great director. Due its positioning in his CV between two Batman films, The Prestige sometimes gets overlooked, which represents something of disservice. Looking back, The Prestige is high quality movie. Christian Bale, in particular, is on top form as Alfred Borden. He portrays the multiple sides of the magic-obsessed showman€™s personality €“ the home life, the fierce rivalry with Angier, and the other thing that we won€™t mention here unless anyone hasn€™t seen it yet €“ remarkably well, making for one of his most multifaceted performances to date. Hugh Jackman does well as Angier, too, although he gets a little less to do than Bale. Scarlett Johansson impresses as Olivia, while David Bowie threatens to steal the show in his brief scenes as Nikola Tesla. Andy Serkis could€™ve been given more to do, but for the most part The Prestige gives plenty of interesting material to its star-studded cast. It€™d be nice to see Nolan return to this kind of scale, as this was the last movie he made that felt like it could €“ for the most part €“ exist in the real world. Ten years on, though, it€™s certainly worth noting Nolan still hasn€™t flopped a movie. So we€™ll probably let him decide.
