8. I Give It A Year
You cant beat a good old fashion British ensemble, romantic comedy. From Four Wedding and a Funeral (Mike Newell) to Love Actually (Richard Curtis), when British romantic comedies are done well, there is nothing better. I Give It A Year is Dan Mazers (co-writer and producer of Borat and Bruno) take on young love, and centers on a London-based couple struggling through their first year of marriage. The film features a stellar cast of British talent such as Jason Flemyng (Snatch), Olivia Colman (Peep Show) Rafe Spall (Life of Pi) and Stephen Merchant (The Office) as well as American talent such as Rose Byrne (Damages) and Anna Fari (The House Bunny). With the combined comedic talents of Mazer genius and the onscreen presence of funny man Stephen Merchant who is slowly but surely stepping out of the shadows of his comedy writing partner Ricky Gervais (The Invention of Lying), I Give It A Year looks like a good bet for a few laughs. The film is set to be released on Valentine's Day, so cue the cinema being packed with couples galore on its release.
