Although Janet Van Dyne was glimpsed in Ant-Man flashback sequences, the character is due to make her full Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in next year's sequel, played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
The original Wasp was thought to be lost in the depths of the Quantum Realm for all eternity, but Scott Lang's escape from the weird dimension at the end of the previous film has changed everything.
Presumably Ant-Man and The Wasp will see Scott, Hank Pym and the second Wasp Hope Van Dyne shrink down to size to stage a rescue mission, but the extent of Pfeiffer's role is unknown.
Photos of her on set have been doing the rounds online, but judging by her hairdo and clothing, they appear to be from flashback sequences set in the 1980s MCU. The black dots positioned on her face in these pictures suggest some CGI de-aging effects are due to be applied.
