10 New Things We Learned About Joss Whedon's Justice League
4. Batman Is Studying A Hologram Of Superman
At least, it looks like Superman. Who else would rock a cape like that?
Of course, Bruce is no stranger to keeping memorials in the Bat-Cave (especially ones as macabre as a bloodied and tattered Robin costume), but this looks like something slightly different. Could Bats be analysing Superman's final battle with Doomsday?
It wouldn't be out of character by any means, and indeed, it's something that Bruce has done in other continuities as well. In 2001's Justice League Animated Series, which itself loosely adapted the 'Death of Superman' story-arc, Batman flat out denies that Superman has passed away, and goes to great lengths to analyse his final moments in an attempt to figure out what really happened to him. Batman being Batman and, you know, the world's greatest detective, he was right, and Superman returned to the land of the living having been temporarily shot three thousand years into the future.
We're yet to figure out how exactly Snyder, Whedon and co. will bring back Superman in Justice League, but if Batman's on the case, it would be a remarkably fitting way of illustrating the duo's friendship as well as the Dark Knight's more tenacious sensibilities.
Laying the groundwork for one of the medium's most iconic friendships is no small task, but if they're going about it this way, then they're already off to a flying start.
