10 Niggling Worries Over DC's Next 10 Movies

9. Is Will Smith Wrong For Deadshot? - Suicide Squad

There is something inherently irksome about the idea of Will Smith playing a DC supervillain; almost as if he was forced to enter these waters because his film career elsewhere has been flailing and his agent said something along the lines of: "C'mon, Will: if you take a job on a comic book movie it's bound to be a hit! And boy do we need one!" Out of all the cast members in Suicide Squid, Will Smith's inclusion feels the most jarring - for some reason, he doesn't gel with the rest of the actors, and there's something about his persona and personal style that just doesn't suggest "former supervillain turned anti-hero." Perhaps the fact that Smith is no longer culturally relevant will make sense in the context of the movie, though; Deadshot is a has-been villain who has been given a chance for redemption, after all. Fingers crossed this role helps to reinvigorate Smith's career, then.
