10 Non-Christmas Films You Can TOTALLY Get Away With Watching This Festive Season

In Tim Burton's 1990s classic Edward Scissorhands, Burton manages to combine the two things he loves best in the world (Johnny Depp and Christmas) to make one of the most breathtaking movies of all time.

Edward Scissorhands is about a mysterious artificial part-human-part-robot trying his best to fit in to a "normal" society. In case the title didn't give it away, this adorable outcast also has scissors for hands, making a number of everyday tasks somewhat tricky. Despite his differences, Edward finds a welcoming family who take him in but faces a lot of opposition from the narrowminded town folk.

How to convince others: In terms of cinematography, you won't find many films that set a Christmas scene like Edward Scissorhands. The final scene alone where Edward exiles himself from the town to live the rest of his days in the castle, features a beautiful moment of snow falling on the town as he creates ice sculptures of the girl he loves. The fact that the story is told on a cold winter's day by a grandmother talking to her grandchild gives a cozy Christmassy feeling to this winter spectacle.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
