10 (Other) Movies About Wrestling That Hollywood Needs To Make

1. ECW

Perhaps not a movie idea that springs to mind first, but there's a fantastically dark comedy just waiting to be made about Extreme Championship Wrestling, the third-tier wrestling promotion spearheaded by Paul Heyman and renowned for its graphically violent wrestling, sexually pervasive storylines, grotty production values and generally balls-out, "anything goes" attitude. ECW nurtured the careers of the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley, and was reportedly a considerable influence on the WWF's Attitude Era, enough at least that Vince was covertly funding ECW behind the scenes to ensure that it didn't die out. From the Mass Transit incident - in which New Jack bladed a 17-year-old boy he was wrestling - to the infamous Vic Grimes incident - in which Grimes and New Jack both fell from a scaffold, with the latter suffering brain damage - ECW got away with things the WWE couldn't even dream of. The result was wrestling at its most shocking and entertaining; a comedy about the ridiculous extremes they went to could be utterly hilarious. Which of these stories best deserves the movie treatment? Let us know in the comments below.
