10 Most Painful Wounds Regularly Inflicted In Horror Movies

4. Amputation

Deep Blue Sea ArmExamples: Deep Blue Sea, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Saw, Audition. Few injuries are worse than losing a limb - the no-doubt horrendous pain coupled with seeing such an essential part of your body missing must be absolutely horrifying - but it's one of the most common injuries inflicted in horror movies. Leatherface, with his trusty chainsaw, has removed a few limbs in his time on screen. Take the 2003 remake of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for example; Leatherface slices Andy's leg off then carries him down to his basement, hangs him on a meat hook (more on that later), then rubs salt in to the wound and wraps it in butcher paper like he's a piece of meat. Vile. But not all amputations are so straightforward... The first Saw movie is a strange, but very memorable example, given that the amputation that occurs is actually self-inflicted. Doctor Lawrence Gordon, desperate to escape his captor and the confines of the industrial bathroom that he has been held in, takes a hacksaw to his own ankle to free himself from the cuffs that have tied him to a radiator. Desperate times indeed.
