10 Party Animal Horror Movies
3. Sorority Row
There aren't too many opening scenes which set the tone quite so well as that of Sorority Row. As the camera slowly pans into a quiet-looking sorority house in the dead of night, a young woman runs out screaming in her underwear - and then turns to demand her shirt back.
Into the house we go, and it's jam-packed with similarly young and beautiful people partying in lingerie, whilst music blares, glasses clink, and girls in butt-less onesies have an extremely feathery pillow fight on a trampoline. There's no denying, it's an eye-opening intro.
It seems to have a bit of a bad name in horror fandom, but as guilty pleasure movies go, this very loose remake of 1983 slasher The House on Sorority Row ranks among the most enjoyable from the past decade (and surely improves on the nondescript original). Unabashedly voyeuristic, it's filled to the brim with eye candy, and there's barely a line of dialogue that isn't barbed-tongue trash talk.
The alluring and endearing cast including Briana Evigan and Jamie Chung are true party hard heroines - but it doesn't take too long for the party to get a wee bit out of hand, when a prank that goes too far sees a member of their sorority meet an untimely demise.
Of course, this being a horror movie, the sisters begrudgingly agree to hide the body, deny all knowledge, and live to party another day - until the past catches up with them in an entertainingly gruesome manner.
