8. James McAvoy/Michael Fassbender - Dark Phoenix

Both James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were given an impossible task in being given the roles that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan played, but they've done superb work as the characters. Each X-Men prequel story had plenty to offer thanks to their clear sense of commitment to the role and the immense chemistry they share. This is why no matter what the surrounding movie looks like, they'll always raise it above 'watchable' status.

DP has become infamous (although still not as bad as Dark Mutants) for its production uncertainties and problems, consistently popping into the news every so often with only negative things to report.
