10 Performances That Could Save Upcoming Movies

7. Patrick Wilson/Vera Farmiga - Annabelle Comes Home

Both Conjuring films serve as a representation of horror movies done right, but the series spinoffs don't exactly meet the same standard. Outside of the David F. Sandberg directed Annabelle: Creation, they largely devolved into 90-minute jump-scare fests that fail to hit where the main series movies do. That being said, all of them are extremely profitable, so the Annabelle movies will, of course, continue with the third film Annabelle Comes Home.

This installment will be helmed by first-time director Gary Dauberman, screenwriter of every film in the franchise, and is actually a continuation from the Conjuring series rather than another prequel. Intriguing enough, but this triquel has a secret weapon: Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are reprising their roles as the Warrens. Since these spinoffs have proven to be more miss than hit, their presence adds some legitimacy to this project. Instead of introducing another one-off protagonist, audiences will get characters they're already attached to.

How significant a role they'll have is unclear, although the movie taking place in the Warren family home presumably indicates it won't just be the daughter that receives doll-related torment throughout the runtime. With so much uncertainty and reasonable doubt behind another potentially disappointing spinoff, Wilson and Farmiga's presence should indicate that this is a more-than-worthy addition to this universe.
