Best known for portraying Benny Rodriguez in the 1993 baseball movie The Sandlot, Mike Vitar also had a role in The Mighty Ducks franchise. He made his last acting appearance in a 1997 episode of Chicago Hope.

In 2002, Vitar joined the LA Fire Department. His exit from stardom was pretty low profile until 2015 when he and four accomplices were caught on video harassing and assaulting a man who had been handing out Halloween candy in a Los Angeles neighborhood.

Samuel Chang was put in a chokehold and had his hands chained behind his back by the former child star. The incident was so violent, his heart stopped. Vitar performed CPR, saving the man's life, but then called 911 to accuse Chang of passing out drug-laced candy. The candy was later determined to be drug-free.

Vitar, now 42-years-old, did not face any jail time and is still a firefighter. Meanwhile, Chang has permanent brain damage, cognitive problems, headaches, and recurring nightmares.
