At just 5-years-old, Danny Lloyd starred as Danny Torrance in the 1980 adaptation of Stephen King's book, The Shinning. The young child did not know it was a horror movie until much later in life. Director Stanley Kubrick had told him it was a drama about a family living in a hotel.

Danny retired from acting at 13-years-old. Now married with four children, the 48-year-old does not regret his decision. He became a biology professor at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in Kentucky.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2017, Danny revealed he is still waiting for the famous tricycle he rode down the corridor of the Overlook Hotel,

"I was promised that tricycle after filming but it never came."
