10 Predictable Horror Movie Deaths We All Saw Coming
3. Grandad & Tony - Await Further Instructions
Await Further Instructions is a little film with a lot of messages, and whilst it doesn't always hit the mark that it aims for, a ridiculous final act flush with practical effects and an off-the-walls tangent makes up for any awkward set up in the previous hour. Essentially, it's a film strangely relevant to the current world situation, depicting a family trapped indoors under quarantine. Only in this scenario, all their exits are boarded up, it's Christmas day, and the TV gives them weird commands through a dedicated emergency line - resulting in tensions running high between the anxious group.
Grandad and father figure Tony are oppressive reflections of toxic patriarchy in this feature, and both their iron-fist ruling and racist remarks mean they're destined to untimely, ugly deaths by the virtue of moralistic horror.
Whilst near everyone in this film sets themselves up as irredeemable by way of their nasty attitudes, these two absolutely take it to its extreme - meaning good old aunty horror will have a lesson to teach them by the movies close. Considering one dies belching black muck much like his own vitriolic comments, and the other is turned into a puppet through possessed television cables reflective of his blind faith in authority, I'd say she did a pretty good job.
