10 Predictable Horror Movie Twists Everyone Saw Coming
1. Spiral - William Is The Killer
Plot: Detective Ezekiel Banks (Chris Rock) and his new partner William Schnek (Max Minghella) go after a Jigsaw copycat who's targeting corrupt cops.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw is a solid spin-off of the Saw franchise and a largely entertaining Seven-esque murder mystery, but it totally bungled the 'mystery' part of it.
Now, what is one of the biggest giveaways of a twist? An important character dying off-screen, which is exactly what Spiral does.
When the detectives find a skinned corpse that apparently belongs to William, it immediately became clear that William was the murderer. The supposed death did not fit the modus operandi of the new killer and this was the only death in the film we didn't see on-screen.
As such, when Ezekiel finds William waiting for him after a trap, it'll elicit groans instead of gasps.
It's revealed that William is driven by revenge; his father was the man that Ezekiel's corrupt partner killed 15 years ago, but this was also pretty foreseeable, since this event was brought up so much throughout the film and the unfortunate man that was killed looked quite similar to William.
Basically, it's a plot twist that's so predictable it's actually kind-of hilarious and although Spiral is still a good, underrated flick it did give us one of the most predictable horror movie twists.... well, ever.
