5. The DCEU Will Serve As An Alternative To Marvel Movies
We've established that the DC Extended Universe isn't going to become the next Marvel Cinematic Universe a decade from now, but Warner Bros. could present an alternative to moviegoers in a landscape which is looking more and more likely it will be dominated by Marvel Studios now.
Joker is unlike anything Kevin Feige and company have ever done, and it earned the sort of acclaim and awards no MCU movie ever has (not even Black Panther). Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey was also vastly different even if it did struggle to find an audience. By not trying to top the MCU, Warner Bros. can give people an alternative and tell stories in settings the Disney-owned Marvel Studios can't or won't.
That's an exciting prospect for a lot of reasons, and something we're confident will prove to be the case. It's certainly strange to think of a company as iconic as DC releasing films which are considered "niche," but as Joker's $1 billion haul proves, that's not always necessarily a bad category to fall into.
