10 Problems Terminator Genisys Sequel Must Address
6. Show Don't Tell (Cut Back On The Exposition)
One of the most frequent complaints about Terminator Genisys is the overuse of expository dialogue - it happens frequently throughout the film, so much in fact that it feels as if Kyle Reese, Sarah Conner and the Guardian talk about nothing other than what's happening and why.
It doesn't take long for these scenes to become very tedious, something which isn't helped by the fact that much of it clearly sounds as if it has been written for the benefit of the audience, rather than the characters involved in the conversations.
Much of this is on account of the fact that the time travel plot is so confusing and convoluted that the writers appear to have pushed themselves into a corner of their own making. Rather than including endless scenes of dull dialogue, a sequel should stick to the principle of showing, not telling.
