10 Problems Terminator Genisys Sequel Must Address

5. Streamline The Plot (And Fill In The Plot Holes)

There's nothing wrong with a complex and involving plot, but in order for it to work successfully it's crucial that it actually makes sense, and in this respect Terminator Genisys quickly takes a huge nosedive into nonsensical territory.

The problem lies in the film's overly-enthusiastic desire to play around with the timelines from the first two movies and set up a new twisting chronology of its own. Pretty soon into the movie the writers get so caught up in the various strands that they become so tangled that the audience can't help but share Reese's sentiments that "time travel gives me a headache!"

It's an unfortunate moment of self-awareness that Terminator Genisys really shouldn't have had. At least the film ends leaving the events kind of wrapped up, providing a clean slate for a sequel to focus on a tighter, more streamlined narrative.
