10 Questions A Sony Spider-Verse Must Answer

4. Who Is The Big Bad Tying It All Together?

Ultimately, Spider-Verse film needs to lead to one central antagonist. They'd be wise to set their story up the way the MCU did — introducing formidable villains in solo or ensemble films and saving a heavy-hitter for the finale.

Sony has arguably one of the best rogues' galleries in all of comics so they have no excuse when it comes to choosing how to manage their villains (though they've obviously had difficulties in the past). Granted, juggling separate universes may be a bit trickier than managing the single-world MCU, but Sony still needs to have a dedicated big-bad that is managed responsibly throughout the saga.

If they wanted Oscorp to function as the epicenter, they could have Norman Osborn pulling the strings until ultimately becoming the unstoppable Green Goblin. The John Jameson from the Venom film could discover a wormhole in space that opens up interdimensional travel, allowing symbiotes to wreak havoc across time and space.

While a Thanos-esque character like Morlun could also be a great central antagonist, what if the "villain" of the story is the intermingling of the universes itself? Perhaps a character like Madame Web, uniting Spider-Men to prevent a threat to all dimensions, is inadvertently causing chaos.
