10 Really Dumb Moments In Otherwise Flawless Horror Films
4. The Police Think Andy Might Be A Calculating Killer - Child's Play
Despite how weird it got in the sequels, the original Child's Play is a pretty serious and effective little horror film. That being said, it sure isn't without its dumb moments, such as this one that happens about a half hour into the movie. At this point, Chucky gets Andy to take him to kill his former business partner, Eddie. Chucky does this by turning on Eddie's gas while Andy is outside. As soon as the house blows up, we cut to Andy in police custody. The strangest thing about this is that the police seem to legitimately think Andy might have something to do with this and with the death of his babysitter. One of the detectives interrogates him as if he's a full grown adult rather than a clearly innocent kid who experienced a tragic event. What kind of sense would it make for Andy to have anything to do with Eddie's death? Do they really think a child left school in the middle of the day to kill some random guy he doesn't know across town? The movie obviously wants to increase the tension and make us feel like Andy's going to get in a lot of trouble, but the fact that he's treated like a hardened criminal rather than some kid with an imagination who got lost is kind of silly.
