10 Reasons Ant-Man Will Be Marvel’s First Flop

5. Shooting Was Delayed

All through the troubles Ant-Man has retained its 2015 release, even moving it forward from November to July. This is because, quite simply, the only place to really put Ant-Man is at the start of Phase 3. Any later and it'll stand out even more amongst the increasingly massive movies of the MCU. And that's fine, if the film can be made in time to a satisfactory quality. However, thanks to all the production delays that's looking increasingly unlikely. Shooting was delayed, only beginning in August, and looks set to continue for a while. This will have a knock-on effect on the post production, which obviously now has a shorter window for the editing and the film's numerous effects shots. Because the film needs to come out so soon, these delays couldn't just be accepted and release dates adjusted; in the mega-franchise model where multiple films are released a year there's not room for a slip-up. If you wanted any resolute suggestion that Ant-Man wouldn't knock it out the part, this is it.
