10 Reasons Disney Needs To Make Solo 2 Happen
3. It Was One Of The Funnest Star Wars Movies Of Recent Years
Despite being about a character central to the Star Wars universe, Solo was surprisingly not too bogged down by its connections with the wider galaxy, especially when compared to the only other Star Wars Story to date, the cameo-fuelled Rogue One.
Solo was just tonnes of fun, with even silly instances (the Imperial Officer christening Han "Solo" because he was, well, alone) coming off as tongue-in-cheek, a rare example of the lofty series taking a lighthearted jab at itself.
After the universally panned The Rise of Skywalker, it's clear that Star Wars needs a sugary injection of pop fun in order to stay alive and relevant.
As bloated as it is, the MCU managed to strike a perfect balance between light and breezy summer blockbusters (Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy), and the seriously meaty stories that propelled the central plot along (Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Endgame), with those more down-to-earth instalments maintaining enthusiasts' interests between the critical films, while not being necessary viewing for more casual MCU fans.
Indeed, a direct sequel to Solo which feels just like its predecessor would be preferable to yet another Star Wars movie that takes itself too seriously and continues to alienate the fanbase.
