10 Reasons The Haters Should Lay Off Suicide Squad

7. It's A Unique Project

Superhero/superheroes are challenged by supervillain/supervillains, all clash, supervillain/supervillains are defeated, superhero/superheroes are victorious, and all is well again. This has been the plot of virtually every major comic book movie to date, and it's been the dominant blockbuster plot for years now - it's getting a tad repetitive, no? Enter Suicide Squad, which turns the whole thing on its head with the cheeky offer of the supervillains teaming up to fight evil - not in the name of what's good and righteous, but simply so the characters can save their own skin. On film, there's never been anything like it: a Dirty Dozen of comic book movies. Even if Suicide Squad turns out to be absolutely awful, it'll at least break the superhero movie tedium by offering some ambiguity, eschewing the typical hero narrative in favour of generally dastardly folk playing by their own rules. It's perfect territory for David Ayer to explore as well; and even more perfect, perhaps, for the cast.
