10 Reasons Why Hogwarts Would Be A Terrible Place To Live

2. The Lack Of Communication With The Outside World

New students at Hogwarts must abandon the technical advancements of the modern-day and live a life that’s almost entirely isolated from the outside world.

The most common form of communication – owl post – may seem like a fun idea, but in practical terms, it would be very frustrating. Students have to wait for days or even weeks to receive news from home.

Though the Daily Prophet is an ideal way of keeping up to date with the wider Wizarding World, it’s not a reliable source of information. As Rita Skeeter admits in The Order of the Phoenix, the primary purpose of the Daily Prophet is to sell itself, not to tell the truth.

The other big issue would be the absence of the internet. Whilst the removal of social media may seem like a blessing at first, in the long term, most students would miss this efficient method of staying connected to the wider world.
