10 Reasons Why The Muppet Christmas Carol Is The Best Christmas Movie

1. Gonzo And Rizzo's Narration

Walking you through the The Muppets Christmas Carol all the way are Gonzo and Rizzo, who bounce off one another to wonderful effect. Gonzo is a great incarnation of Dickens, who has to drag RIzzo round with him for little more reason than comedic effect. Happily, they prove so much more than an entertaining but distracting double act. They keep the story coherent, accessible and pacey, and get involved in the action more than once as the plot ticks by.

The pair are wonderful together - funny, full of energy and breaking the fourth wall to consistently great effect. Even the grim moments are delivered with a wry smile and knowing look, the pair blending full-blown comedy with meaningful narration better than any human duo could have accomplished. Gonzo and Rizzo walk you through this timeless tale with a fantastic sense of humour and a glint in their eye.

Most importantly, they never forget their place as storytellers. The pair do Dickens' tale justice with the kind of retelling that it deserves, and this is what makes them the best thing about The Muppet Christmas Carol and, by extension, one of the best things about Christmas, period.
