10 Recent Horror Movie Endings Nobody Can Agree On

The ending of Robert Eggers' Nosferatu marked a firm split between fans of the original and those who were entirely new to it.

That is to say, some of those watching the Nosferatu story for the first time struggled to accept that the vampire (Bill SkarsgÄrd) would willingly let himself be broiled in broad daylight just to get some sex from Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp).

Some found it silly that Count Orlok was defeated in such an anti-climatic fashion, while to others this criticism is basically missing the point of the entire movie.

After all, Orlok refers to himself as a creature of pure appetite earlier in the film, unable to resist his own nature to the extent that it ultimately kills him.

Though Eggers' take received much praise for its more feminist spin on the source material, which grants Ellen decidedly more personal agency, there are still a lot of folk - especially younger viewers less-familiar with the tale - who seemingly found Orlok's demise unintentionally comical.
