10 Recent Horror Movies That Pissed Everyone Off

This list kicked off with a terrible video game horror movie, so why not finish with one too? And, oh boy, this one is a real doozy. 

Silent Hill 2 is widely believed to be one of the best video games of all time, in part thanks to its gorgeous yet harrowing story. The melancholic tale of James Sunderland, a man who returns to the town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his dead wife, is often considered a masterpiece of storytelling. Sadly, this film took all the subtlety and nuance of the source material and pounded it into oblivion. 

It's hard even to capture how baffling the choices in Return to Silent Hill are, but the ending (spoiler alert), where James spontaneously travels back in time and changes the events of the story, really sums it up.

Given the pure love for the source material, it's no surprise that fans got their pitchforks out and came in droves to lambast the film. The audience and critical reception it has received make you question how the director, Christophe Gans, even managed to make the somewhat decent Silent Hill (2006).
