10 Recent Movie Trailers That Gave Too Much Away
7. Bloodshot
The first trailer for last year's Vin Diesel-starring superhero vehicle Bloodshot committed the cardinal, egregious sin of spoiling a plot twist which isn't actually revealed until half-way through the movie.
The trailer nonchalantly gives away the fact that Ray Garrison (Diesel) wasn't resurrected with nanotechnology by Dr. Emil Harting (Guy Pearce) simply out of the good of his heart.
Rather, Harting is constantly remixing Garrison's memories of his wife's murder, implicating his enemies as the perpetrators so that Ray will wipe them out in his quest for vengeance.
While it's not terribly surprising that Pearce ends up playing the villain, revealing the particulars of his manipulation is just totally unnecessary, especially considering it isn't revealed until the movie's mid-point.
Between this and the trailer giving away most of the VFX money shots, it ensured that watching Bloodshot was an incredibly unsurprising experience, in addition to also being a rather bad one.
